Just Another Day

So yesterday was a good day at work. I got emails from a few friends, had a ton of work to do and got my pictures taken for my jobs blog. Then Ryan and Zoe came to visit me and I went home for the day early. I should probably not make a habit out of that but it was so nice. I can't help but sit here and think for the last hour of how people are walking home and I still have an entire hour to go. I'm super tired so I may sleep when I get home. Afterwards me Zoe, Ryan and M.A took a walk down to the river and it's so gorgeous at some spots, some places I had not seen before and M.A had discovered them on his early morning walks.

The tree in our front yard is seriously losing leaves and it looked very alluring after our scenic route. Cameras were dropped and war ensued. I found leaves like everywere... Ick.. For supper we had bruchetta toasts and asparagus pasta salad. It was really good but since it was French supper, I couln't even ask for the bowl back so I had to make awkward motions and such until Jared my brotha helped a girl out and put two and two together. Afterwards we played Go Fish in French which was pretty fun. Tonight we're playing capture the flag which should be intresting. Especially since it will be in the dark and I dislike physical activity. But I'm on a team with M.A and Melissa so it should be good.
War paint anyone?
xo, xo.

Busy!

Wow so I have been so busy. We did mini mass O and Quesnell went home. That week we had our job walkthroughs and saw all the work partners, then we had a little party for them. The next day we had our job interviews and that went well because I got the job I wanted. I work at Volunteer Vanderhoof/Neighbourhood space and I'm basically creating Vanderhoofs entire volunteer agency. I have to make them a blog write in the newspaper and create a data base. Its pretty good even though I had a breakdown about it on the first day because my boss and I messed up what time I had to start, she gave me the wrong key to the building, spelt my name wrong on the contract, and was not too clear on my objectives for the day. It was great.. anyhow, on Saturday we played something from nothing, so we started with a penny and had to try and trade it in for something better. I will post the picture sequence of what we got.

Yeah, okay, that's right. We got a futon. From a freakin' penny 'yall!

The couple we asked has just bought a brand new couch and had this futon standing around and so they drove it to our house!! We won, but the other group did great too and got a washer and dryer set. Crazy!!
It's really nice here and we just chill by the river sometimes.

We also baked bread which SUCKED.. ahahha

Basically I'm having an amazing time and therefore have not updated but I'm going to try and update at least once a week. Miss you guys!!

Vanderwhaaaat?

So I am here! My flights went really good and I found my group members from FB pretty early on. There was really no time to stop and rest or to eat between flights it was pretty much from one to the other. I only had to be on the plane for about 2 hrs but we (the Quesnel and Vanderhoof groups) met in P.G and then got on a bus to head to Quesnel. The drive was extremely long because we went P.G to Quesnel, Quesnel to P.G and then P.G to Vanderhoof. Loooong ride. We watched Shaun of the Dead for part of the ride, and our bus driver was SO nice and there were no PL on the bus so we asked him to take us to McDonalds and he did!! So we bought him a Sundae as a symbol of our gratitude. We got to our Vanderhoof house at 3 am E-town time, 2 am our time. We met our PL Melissa she is so, so, nice. (And looks like Elisa! ahaha) She seems totally down to earth and really down for experimentation and experiencing new things together. We got a tour of our house which is HUGE. The girls live on the main floor guys upstairs with the PL. A bathroom room for the boys, seperate for the girls. We chose our rooms and I have the top bunk and share with 3 other girls. Now that I'm on the top bunk I do NOT like it ahaha. It feels like I'm floating in the air and its hard to fall asleep. I have 6 girls and 5 boys in my group and only 3 people are French. This morning we woke up at like 9 and got ready for the Quesnel group at 10. We ate toast and peanut butter, and random fruit. Then we did ice breakers and whatever at the local arena and then learnt the rules of the program from 3 hrs. Actually 3 hours long theres that many rules. But curfew is reasonable and none of the rules are overly hardcore or seem too hard to follow. The Quesnel group is awesome and we already get along with them so well, too bad theyre like three hours away and when we go to Quebec they'll be in Ontario. For supper we had pasta and garlic toast and talked and then we did a realy lame presentation about the prairies.. mostly saskatchwan jokes. Now we have free time and are showing eachother pictures of our friends and family and pets. We need to be in bed in an hour and I need to take a shower, but in short form, I'm alive and Imma like it, however it does not feel like Imma be doing this for the next 6 months. Stay in contact people!

I'm leaving, on a jet plane...

Wow. So it's official. I am leaving to Vanderhoof tomorrow afternoon.
This is beyond crazy really. I think that I'm a very live in the future type of
person. I love the idea of what's to come, but not quite what does come.. ahaha
its too exciting, and too bizarre and too scary and I'm going to miss my friends and family SO much.
I wonder if I'll even be able to sleep tonight.. and I hope I don't forget anything.
I packed completely, and cleaned my room, like intense cleaned, and all thats left to do is..
freak out?
Maybe breakfast with Spencer if he ever gets back to me, and Slurpee with Rachel right before I go to the airport.
Today I got to see Jared for the last time, and chilled with Talyse as well as get some luggage tags. How could I forget luggage tags??
Ahhh so crazy... oh well, I'm just going to try and relax and wear my hoodie and put on my ipod and zone out. That is the plan.
Just breathe. When I told mom I was gonna miss her and started to tear up she laughed and said she's glad I'll miss her. "You're only leaving tomorrow," she tells me. "True," I said back, "I'll cry tomorrow." The next time I'll post could very well be right before I leave tomorrow or it could be once I'm alive and settled 10 hrs away from home!!
See you then!

Err Busy!

So I leave on Wednesday and it is really early Monday morning right now. I cannot believe how busy I have been! I worked my last day at work on Friday. Its so weird not having a job, I'm confused and am like what am I doing then? I've been trying to hangout with my friends and with the 2.5 days I have left in Edmonton I'm gonna try and hangout with 4 or 5 aha, on top of that finish my room, finalize my packing and do all 20 things on my to do list. In 2.5 days LOL.
I'm getting more pumped though but the closer it comes to the time the more I realize that I'm going to miss my family so, so much.
Everytime I laugh with my parents and am just myself, I'm sad a little bit because I realize that its honestly going to be such a long time before I can do that again. I know I'm going to email, write and skype 'em but its not the same as being there with them. But you cannot live with your parents forever and if you miss them, visit them right? A man at church today came to talk to me and he said that when you're away from people you learn to love them more and I just know that is going to be so true.
I got my hair cut and dyed and it feels so, so, short. I seriously miss my long hair, like ALOT but at least it will grow back? Ahh.. :(
Carlin and Sheldon came to dinner tonight and I got some more music from itunes, did a couple of loads of laundry and pre-packed. My room really just needs a vaccum and bed change and should be good to go.
But I knew this rushing around would happen in the long run because not having to work has been so so nice, and so I've been chillin more than anything. FB and itunes are my worst enemies rigt now because I just spend all my time on that... somehow...
Yeh and turns out I bought TOO MANY new clothes.. thats just rediculous and my mother says to take them all would be a waste so.. that kinda annoys me but whatever.
The ride to Vanderhoof I thought was 2.5 hours but its 4.5! You know how crazy that is? Like driving to Calgary or Drumheller is 3. B.C is big! Or Vanderhoof is even more in the middle of nowhere than I thought..? But we are getting a coach and driving from like 9 or something so I just think its going to fun as long as people arent being grouchy and moaning about sleep. Screw that, you're on an adventure, work with it. (:

Hardy har har.

Kay, so... I'm leaving in 9 days!! That's right! N-I-N-E.
A week and 3 days. 3x3. 1x9. 8+1. You get the point.
At this part of the game, I do not have that much left to do surprisingly.
I expected there would be a lot left over and not enough time but I'm feelin' good.
I basically have to pack, and clean my room uber well.
I did however make a schedule of the 9 remaining days I have left here and what
I am going to do on those particular days to ensure I can leave on a fairly organized and sane matter.
Tomorrow/today... I have to call my cell phone company and pay my last bill. It's been taking forever and so far has taken 3 different phone calls. Just to pay my last phone bill. "Ooh.. sorry, it's not in the system.." "Ohh.. call back next week sometime.." "Oooh.. you're moving? You can still stay with our company!"
I also have to call Katimavik. Yeh, I know I'm being annoying about the criminal record check but seriously? 9 days is not a very long time, a week in a half.. before I move provinces and I'm 'technically' not allowed to yet. I don't like that insecure what if feeling. It's retarded and I hope it gets cleared up asap.
I like how I know my Katimavik address now.. it's all good to know where I'm going to be living finally. And my PL actually sounds really, really nice and was actually so good at answering every single question I had.
I have three more shifts left at work, and they are perfect and are giving me a taste of every type of shift before I go. One open, one close, one overtime.
I get my hair epically cut on Thurs, and lemme tell you it's way over due. My hair is freakin' long.. plus the last time I got anything done to it was the end of May!
I've also been lucky to hang out with a couple of my good friends lately, but there are still a few I really wanna see before I go, and hopefully according arrangements can be made.
I think I've bought almost everything I need for my trip too. If I sit here and think of something I need besides winter boots, I can't think of anything, and a friend is letting me try hers on Thurs. Fingers crossed that they work.
I kinda wish I was leaving at some insane hour of the morning/night for my flight instead of the middle of the afternoon... because that's more exciting.. the way it's set up for me now is going to force me to be antsy and sit around and wait until it's time to go to the airport and I just know it's going to drive me insane.. but at least I can have one last epic sleep in before I go?
I think it's gonna be crazy when we all show up there like 2 in the morning.. trying to decide whose room is whose.. and finding a place to crash.. I think basically it's going to be an interesting time. I think I'm going to be a fan of this time change, gaining an hour of sleep is fine by me. (:
I also looked up the distance between the house and the church and it's a 40 minute walk and I can't take rides from non Katimavik people so I'm sorry hooped. We'll see what happens though.
I also finished personal progress. Take that!!
Well... gotta get up to make some phone calls tomorrow so I'm heading to bed. Come on 9 days.. speed past so I can start my adventure!!
OH & does anyone actually read this? (besides my mom? lol)

Too.. much... to... update!!

AHHH I don't know where to start really.
Okay, how about.. my last day of work was supposed to be the 31st of Aug but now it is the 3rd of September. I'm helping my boss out because she was a little short. But it's overtime, so I really don't mind the extra money.
Lately I've been talking to Ryan in my group a lot which is pretty cool.
I got my flight information on Katimaroute along with my plane ticket. I'm leaving Edmonton at about 430 in the afternoon and flying from Edmonton to Vancouver, and then meet up with Ryan in Vancouver and then fly to Prince George and then drive a couple of hours to Vanderhoof.
My PL emailed me! She let me know after I asked a few questions what the houses address is, we're going to have wireless internet, there is a separate washroom for the boys and one for the girls. Girls rooms are main floor, boys rooms are upstairs. Large living room and kitchen. All mail gets sent to the post office, not the Katima house. Mass O is being held at OUR HOUSE. For 2 days and 1 night.
How epic is this?? Ahh.
Today I went shopping with Carlin and bought a new Matt and Nat purse to go with my new Matt and Nat wallet.
I have 11 days left in Edmonton and 4 days left at work. Uhmm... Yay? <3
BUT CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK STILL NOT PROCESSED. Like seriously? 11 DAYS LEFT! GR.
Feast your eyes on this baby.
